The episode opened with more insults being targeted at Team’s 6’s Trudy. The other contestants had not gotten over Trudy’s so called “selfish” decision regarding the Oily challenge. They were fit to be tied and admitted that their anger was on the verge of becoming physical. Trudy had reached her breaking point. She confessed to her partner Necardo that she was ready to go home. She felt if she stayed any longer then she would be pushed to do things she would regret. Necardo gave her a pep talk and reminded her that their success was in their hands only. Trudy shed a few tears but Necardo’s wise words were enough to convince her to stay. All that behind, the contestants headed to Rainforest River Rafting. The exhilarating first challenge, Bridge to Bridge, required contestants to run from one bridge to another. The trick was they had to run up a waterfall with a bottle of Essential water. They had to arrive at the final bridge – together – with the Essential water in hand. Team 3 (Andre & Lorie) decided to take their shoes off. This proved to be a huge mistake. They traveled slowly up the falls. Team 6, Necardo & Trudy were more focused than ever considering the emotional setbacks. They came in first with Team 7, Ethan and Jenice on their heels. Team 5 (Levar & betty-Ann) were third despite Betty’s injury during the challenge. Team 2’s Bruce explained that he could have placed in the top 3 if it hadn’t been for his partner, Louann’s lackadaisical attitude during the challenge. He claimed he had never begged someone as much as he has begged Louann. Team 8’s Paul and Tameica argued the challenge away and ended up second to last. Team 3 took their time. They saved their bare feet from injury, but came in dead last. After the challenge was complete, they all relaxed in the waterfalls. Contestants admitted that it didn’t feel like they were in the competition anymore. It seemed as though they were on a group outing. This peace and tranquility soon ended. When they returned to Sunset Beach it was time for the second challenge, Don’t Spill The Water. Teams were required to run down the beach to a group of kayaks lined up along the shore. They had to claim a kayak, 6 plastic cups, and fill the cups with water (above a marker point). They were instructed to place the cups in their respective kayaks in any manner which they favoured. They were then instructed to travel along an obstacle course without spilling the water. If they did spill the water, then they would have to start over from the point at which they picked up the kayaks. A time limit was set and the teams raced off to complete what would become a very difficult challenge. Team 5, Levar and Betty quickly found a workable strategy and dominated this challenge. They came in first. Necardo and Trudy (Team 6) were right behind. Team 7, Ethan and Jenice rounded out the top 3. Team 8, Paul and Tameica played out their usual fighting but they were able to complete the challenge in time. Team 3, Andre & Lorie seemed to have returned to their losing streak. Andre developed some unexpected back pains and he struggled to complete the challenge. Tears rolled down Andre’s cheeks but there was nothing Lorie could do to help her partner. Necardo offered words of support and they struggled on. Finally they completed the challenge. Only Team 2, Bruce and Louann remained. Their cups kept falling and they had to restart a number of times. Unlike Team 8 who were able to complete the challenge despite their discontent, Team 2 could not follow suit. When they first arrived at the judges station, Bruce dropped the kayak and all the water was spilled. A furious Louann refused to do the challenge over. Bruce dragged the kayak his own to the start point. He filled the cups on his own and waited for Louann. Eventually she joined him and they struggled to reach the judges before time ran out. They did not work fast enough and ultimately did not complete the challenge. Team 2, Bruce and Louann were now in last place – for the first time. Bruce revealed that they had been struggling for quite a while. He claimed that Team 2’s success had been because of his efforts. He explained that Louann had not been putting out any effort. Bruce described how he had to beg Louann to do every little thing. Bruce insisted that his days of begging were over. This could be the end for Team 2 if they are unable to find a way to work through their conflict. |
